My best photo is this picture taken in manhattan, New York. This photo was taken on my iphone, from a lower angle to get the full subject of the tallest building. I took this photo because i really liked the architecture and color. The color in the photo is the strongest component of my photo. This photo also posses significance to me because i went to New York for college tours and my goal is to move to the city after high school. This photo is a motivation, in some sense for me. If I could recreate this shot I do not think I would improve anything because I like each component my photo has.
Capturing Light:
Photo 1: a photo from the balcony in St. Bernard's church. This was taken in the morning, as the golden hour was ending. The light was coming through the stained glass window and reflected onto the lamp. This photo is kind of an old fashioned meets modern theme.
Photo 2: This photo was also captured at the same time and location. I stood above the entry way of the church to capture this photo. The green and yellow stained glass creates a cool reflection color onto the white walls, which creates a cool look to the viewers eye. This gives a eerie mood. Photo 3: This photo is of Ericka Almeida, in Providence. The light was shining during this afternoon but gave a unique shadow to the stairs she was posing on. I also converted this photo to black and white and the light is still visible. The mood of this photo reminds me of shot from a fashion scene.
Capturing Light (in school):
Photo 1: This photo was taken in the Performing Arts Center. The light I used for this assignment was not natural light, as the other out of school photos were. The light from the ceiling reflected nicely onto the chairs and creates a nice shine. I converted this photo to black and white and the light is still visible on the seats.
Photo 2: Other than the PAC photo, this photo was taken in natural light.. The chairs have been set up and in front of tall windows. The light shines onto the chairs and creates a nice glare looking light. This photo was also converted to black and white. Suprisingly,I liked this photo better in black and white. It gives the photo a sense of solitude or loneliness, because its a single chair and now the photo has no warmth to it because all color was removed. Photo 3: The last photo was taken in the gym with natural and un-natural light, which is unique. The windows above give a nice reflection onto the ground and the lights above also give a nice glare onto the court.

Fortitude: Strength of mind. I chose this word to unify these photos together because each individual photographed in the series has a sense of both confidence and isolation to them. Each photograph was taken in New York, which has a special significance to me because I am obsessed with New York and its vitality. It is where I see myself in the future. Each photo is related by having a focal point of one or two people photographed with a background showing the crowds and buildings of the city. The scenes show my glimpse into the city of New York. Three strongest photos: Photo 1:In this photo, I photographed a man listening to his headphones while confidently walking the streets. He is in his own world in the photo. What makes this photo strong is the shapes that the roof of grand central terminal creates. It provides curves to the photo. The man is also the obvious focus of the photo because everyone is roaming around and he is the only one who looks sure where they are going. It illustrates my concept because he expresses the most confidence in that he knows where he is going. Photo 5: For this picture, I captured this woman walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. She also portrays confidence and knowingness. What is very cool about this photo is her shirt, which reads "Good Fortune Favors The Brave". This gives a sense of independence to the photo. As stated before, she is in a typical New York location, but it seems she is a local and provides a sense of familiarity to the photo Photo 7: This photo was taken of two men of the street. each of the men have a bicycle which provides very cool shapes and dimension to the photo. There is also a light captured that reflects onto the car in the background. This is my favorite part of the photo because it adds a cool effect to it. The photo makes you wonder where they are going.
